Director General Office

In order to promote and regulate the tobacco industry in the country, Tanzania Tobacco Board through the Director General's office performs the following responsibilities:

  1. To maintain and promote efficiency, effectiveness and good governance of the Board;
  2. To be responsible to the Board of Directors for the implementation of its decisions;
  3. To spearhead the continuous development and review of mission, objectives, and policies of the Board;
  4. To formulate and implement organizational and management policies for the efficient running of the Board and achievement of set targets and ensuring that the Board operates within the approved expenditure budget;
  5. To advise the Board of Directors on the appointments of the Directors and Heads of units;
  6. To direct the implementation of strategic plans of the Board;
  7. To advise the Government on all issues related to the Tobacco Industry and proposing major policy initiatives;
  8. To represent the Board at local and international tobacco fora;
  9. To promote, establish and coordinate participation or integration of the Tanzania Tobacco industry in the regional and global tobacco industry;
  10. To promote a good relationship with Government Institutions and other organizations.

 

Directorate of Crop Development and Regulatory Services

In order to promote and regulate the tobacco industry in the country, Tanzania Tobacco Board through the Directorate of Crop Development and Regulatory Services performs the following responsibilities:

  1. Planning, coordinating, control & evaluation of tobacco production services including Farming arrangement, Grower’s registration, Crop promotion, Crop estimates, Inputs supply modalities, Production infrastructures, A forestation programmes, Farmers’ day/competition, Crop Development Fund establishment & management, Crop research, and extension services;
  2. To plan, coordinate, administer and evaluate marketing services, marketing research and information, field crop selling arrangements/procedures and domestic as well as export sale arrangements/procedures;
  3. To plan and administer crop quality control services including inspectorate services;
  4. To enhance adherence to the law and regulations governing tobacco industry on production, processing, promotion and marketing levels;
  5. To verify and inspect inputs to ascertain adherence to approved standards;
  6. To formulate and implement directorate’s policies for the efficient running of the Directorate and achievement of set targets and ensuring that the Directorate operates within the approved expenditure budget;
  7. To participate in the implementation of strategic plans of the Board;
  8. To advise the Director General on all issues related to the tobacco industry and proposing major policy initiatives.

 

Directorate of Finance and Administration

The Directorate of Finance and Administration has the following responsibilities:

  1. To advise the Director General on matters pertaining to Planning and administration of Finance, Human and physical resources of the Board;
  2. To oversee the conduct of the financial business and affairs of the Board;
  3. To enhance proper financial and management of accounts;
  4. To coordinate the preparation and compilation of the annual budget of the Board
  5. To direct and supervise the preparation of periodical financial reports and ensures that they are submitted to the appropriate authorities as per regulations;
  6. To enhance efficient use of the Board’s revenue for the purchase and provision of services and supplies;
  7. To make follow up the availability of funds from respective organs and managing expenditure budget for the Board and for each department;
  8. To enhance timely auditing of the Boards’ financial statements;
  9. To formulate, interpret policy matters related to workers social services, workforce development, wages and salaries, benefits and other employees' staff welfare; and
  10. To establish human resources and skills needed at all levels of departments/sections
